Guest Reviews
Aline was kind enough to upgrade us to Carriage Mews. The accommodation was first rate, peaceful and in a stunning location. Beautiful surroundings and only a few minutes’ walk into Duns itself. We can fully recommend this location for a couple looking for a perfect, peaceful, and relaxing break. We will certainly make the effort to visit again. Amazing.

Lovely accommodation , fantastic host.

Perfect location, quiet and peaceful but close to town.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely cottage, very comfortable with plenty of space inside. Weather was lovely and we had a super walk round the lake. We will be back. Thanks Aline and also thanks to Alick for helping us with our luggage - much appreciated.

We had such a wonderful stay, very homely house, beautiful surroundings and really did provide everything we needed. Couldn't be happier. Thank you!

We loved the location. Very peaceful.

If you want to stay in a castle at a non-castle budget; this is the place. All as described and minimalist. Only recommendation to improve self catered stays is to provide basic provisions; ie coffee, salt & pepper, condiments. Very peaceful and walkable.

We absolutely loved this cottage. It is spacious, yet cosy and comfortable. It had everything we needed. The setting is absolutely beautiful and so very peaceful, just the sounds of nature to unwind to after the days adventures. We loved everything about the place and have already recommended it to others who we know would also love it. We would definitely return.

Place is very remote and quiet. Great location and good space for a large golf party (at last minute booking also!). Very helpful in response to any issue and friendly.

Responsive communication from host in advance of stay, and lots of useful info provided too e.g. things to do & places to eat in local area. - Beautiful, quiet, atmospheric surroundings within grounds of Duns Castle. - Interior of cottage was clean and spacious. You wouldn’t call it luxurious, but seemed fair enough for the price point. - All in all, an enjoyable stay.

The apartment was very nice and large and nicely furnished, nothing lacked and we felt very much at home. The park and surroundings are beautiful. Everything was clean and cosy.

We had a lovely stay! Accurately described in the listing, lots of space and great for a family stay. The estate is beautiful.

Aline did a fine job in presenting a very good flat, located in/above the cobbled stable courtyard. The space was quiet, private and thoroughly enjoyable...and we certainly would highly recommend it and may well return if we’re back in the area. Also, two bedrooms with what we call ‘king’-sized beds...very comfortable! Overall - Excellent!

We had a magical stay at the castle, Mr. & Mrs. Hay and yourself are to thank for that. All the months of planning were well worth it and the weather cooperated too! . It has been a delight to work with all of you, and the people of Duns are some of the warmest and most helpful on the planet. Wishes for a multitude of future blessings to you and to yours.

Aline is a wonderful lady who has been extremely nice and helpful. The place Azela cottage is beautifully situated on castles estate providing quiet and safe holidays escape. Thank you Aline.

Really lovely cottage set in superb location. Ideal for relaxing break but situated cloae to numerous popular attraction; Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne and Berwick. Several nearby golf courses are well worth a visit, in particular Duns course was a real challenge and incredibly good value. I would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage

Nice stay, great location. Difficult to beat a castle view! Really good value for a 3 bedroom property.

The Coach House is set in beautiful grounds with lovely nature trail walks. The house is spacious with very comfortable lounge and bedroom. It’s a short walk into Duns to a reasonable size Co-op. It’s a great location to amazing places like the Farne Islands, Holy Island and historical castles. We look forward to returning to the Scottish Borders soon.

Fantastic little cottage in a lovely, secluded location, surrounded by nature, a great base for exploring the local area.

A lovely house in a beautiful location great for exploring the borders. Lots of space either to be together as a family or for the different generations to get some peace and quiet. Can highly recommend the butchers in Duns for fabulous meat.

We spent a week back in time in this beautifully comfortable and quiet cottage, surrounded by the most beautiful countryside. Each room in the cottage is like stepping into a different era. Downstairs a dinning room from the 1900s, a 1920s living room and modern kitchen. Upstairs a 1930s twin bedroom, a 1980s double room and a1950s kingsize room. all with very comfortable beds and nice modern shower rooms and a nice deep bath. We all had a very restful sleep and sat eating breakfast on the sundrenched outside seating area. The local town has all the usual pubs, a co-op and bakery. a good place to stay to tour the beautiful villages and stately homes close by, with a train to Edinburgh from the nearby station at Berwick. We would highly recommend this lovely cottage.

A peaceful retreat in an historic setting. Duns is an easy stroll away for convenient shopping. Great walks, the coast, Edinburgh and many tourist attractions are all within easy reach. The house is well equipped and tastefully modernised without losing its unique charm, but the stairs might be a challenge if you had any mobility issues.

Great stay at Aline’s house. Very clean and as described. Would definitely recommend it and hope to come back again.
We booked a week's stay in June 2021 in Geans cottage and loved it! The cottage itself is a stunning old building full of character including open fires, a large kitchen, dining area and its own gardens. This was important to us as it gave a great private space for the children to play. obviously the cottage was on the grounds of Duns Castle where we had a beautiful walk around the castle grounds and the lake, all very private and stunning. the cottage is also within walking distance of the village centre of Duns which had everything you could need, including a large park for kids which was great for us. The location was a lovely base to take days trips from, we particularly enjoyed a Riverside walk in Berwick. The communication for the stay was amazing. we were given a long message explaining all the things to see and do in the area and all questions I had were answered promptly and politely. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Ideal country cottage if you’re looking for a get away from things but yet still close enough to a town to get groceries etc. All the amenities you require are in the cottage and a nice secluded garden at the rear where you can watch the wildlife. Wonderful woodland walks within a few metres and the nature reserve all located within the castle grounds. Loved it.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Pavillion Lodge, great location for exploring the local area. The castle grounds are beautiful, we walked around the lake every morning even spotted two deer one day. The lodge is clean and comfortable, just 5-10mins. walk into Duns where we enjoyed some excellent meals at The Black Bull Hotel

We had a great stay here, and especially loved the location. Really handy for Duns, but also quiet and with great access to nearby countryside. Duns had the services we needed, and while we had hired car we noticed there seems to be a good local bus service so you could probably have a great stay here without a car.

good location, perfect for completing the long distance walk we did during the week!

A unique, cosy space set in a lovely peaceful location and close to the Northumberland coast and surrounding countryside. Really enjoyed my stay.

The Coach House is a tranquil retreat nestled in the estate woodland. Access to walks around the estate is easy to find. The cottage is well located with the town of Duns only minutes away

If you want a sparkling modern minimalist cottage this is not for you. If you want a bit of character in glorious setting with lots of nature on your doorstep then this is the place to go.

This is a real isolated treat. Set in secluded grounds of Duns castle this cottage has everything you need for a basic retreat.

Spotlessly clean flat in stunning surroundings in castle grounds.

Pavilion Lodge is a wonderful place to spend a few days relaxing. The Lodge is comfortable and well equipped and has lots of character. Please note that the bathroom is on the ground floor so you have to go down some winding stairs from the bedroom. The Castle grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed wandering along the lake and exploring the nature reserve. The town of Duns is interesting and well worth visiting, it has all the local amenities you need. We were made to feel very welcome by Aline.

We really enjoyed our stay. The castle is about 1 hour from Edinburgh where we spent most of our days. There is a lot to see in the neighbourhood and the surroundings of the castle with beautiful trails. The apartment we stayed was very spacious for our family of 5. We would definitely recommend.

Rose Cottage is a lovely property set in beautiful surroundings. The heating keeps it nice and warm, and it has a really cosy feel, even when it's cold outside. It was great to be able to walk round the castle grounds right from the cottage doorstep. Duns is only a short walk or drive away with a good selection of shops. Overall highly recommended for a peaceful getaway.

We had a long weekend staying in the Coach house. It was just wonderful! Beautiful house with lovely grounds, so relaxing!

We had a great stay in Cedar Cottage. The cottage was much more spacious that we had expected and well equipped. There were 7 of us (family of 6 plus my brother) and we fitted well. Some great walks plus tennis on site and lots to see and do locally: a great family holiday.
